Finally... It's Been Updated!

I have received draft versions of the revised versions of the the Pro Truck rules, Street Stock rules, and the Pro Stock rules. The Pro Stock section may have another change in the next day or two - stand by for NEWS.

You won't notice them at first but we are revamping the site in the background to bring you a more 'inter-active' website. We will tentatively allow each driver, or that drivers designated user, to create and maintain a driver's profile page.

The reason for the profile pages is so that we might create links in the results articles to the driver's pages. We tried allowing just anyone to do certain things on this site previously and it became a mess in a quick hurry. I'm not interested in seeing how many 'F-bombs' you can toss in five sentences. That's why Facebook flourishes. I'm not a prude but I also know that not everyone wants to read that stuff. More details on that shortly.

I had promised some info on our DVDs but, again, issues kept me tied up. This is the latest info:
We are in the process of making some nicely edited DVD videos that will be done in one of three ways. One way will be the entire evening, just as it happened. It will be edited to eliminate things like the track being watered, clean up after wrecks, and other delays that contribute nothing to the video.

The next method will be with the heats, semi features, and then the features by divisions. For example, all the IMCA Mod heats, then the semi features, and then the main feature will be clumped together. This will be for the fan that isn't interested in watching certain divisions and just wants to watch certain others.

The final method will be so three to five nights of racing of one particular division will be placed on a DVD. Again, using the IMCA Mods as an example, we might put all of the April IMCA races on one DVD, all of the IMCA races from May on one DVD, and so on to complete the season of nothing but IMCA Mod action. Each division will have its own DVD collection.

We also are making a "Wreck-Fest" DVD that will feature all of the decent wrecks our cameras caught during the year. I know there were some major accidents during the year that were caught quite nicely. We won't know the exact number until we are done.

We are working to have all of this done before Christmas for mail order and will have them all for pickup at the banquet in January.

For those that intend to have minors entering the pits, here is the minor release form to have pre-filled out. PLEASE NOTE! "Legal" people say you need to do one of two things. Fill it out and have it notorized or fill it out but don't sign it until you are at the track so track officials can countersign it. Other forms will be posted here shortly.

CMS Fans Tab Offers Special Content

There are many new features becoming available to registered users. Just click on the tab and fill out the registration form - it only takes a few seconds.

A classified ads section, driver profiles, and live and on-demand streaming video will be shown from the "CMS Fans" menu tab. All free and paid live streams will originate from that tab. The free stream will show a single view camera that is following the action from the main camera perch. The Pay Per View option will include at least two additional fixed mount views and an in-car camera view for most of the feature races.

If you were getting the Rain Out List email messages last year you will automatically be registered and you be receiving a computer generated message from our server. That message will contain a Username and Password to access the CMS Fans menu tab features. We will try not to duplicate registrations if you are already a registered site user.

Profiles & Blogs Now Available

The 2014 site format is now in place and many of the new features may now be utilized. We think the most popular will be the Driver Profiles & Blog area. The goal is the give every driver a page to display photos, thank their sponsors, and show personal bios.

You must be a "CMS Fan" (registered user) to access the profile pages. Click on the "CMS Fans" menu tab to reach the registration and login page. Once you are logged in new menu options from that tab will become visible.

The entry interface is a simple editor and is available from the "CMS Fans" drop down menu tab. Drivers, or their representatives, that want to create their own pages should This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to Lee.

Grandstand Improvements for 2014

While the racing events for 2013 are over, work continues to improve and upgrade the facility continue. The pit stands have come down and new ones will be added shortly. Other projects are in the works before putting the track down for its winter rest.

End of Season - THANKS!

The Great Lakes Nationals presented by Engine Pro marked the end of the 2013 racing season at Crystal Motor Speedway. Ron Flinn, owner and promoter of the track, would like to thank everyone involved in the extremely successful season. The track has some of the best drivers, pit crews, fans, sponsors, and employees in the business and without them, this success would not be possible. Correct Transponder?

CMS is using the Westhold transponder system, so whatever transponder you might find has to be compatible. The AMB transponders won't be compliant. If you have questions, call the office at 989-235-5200.

What Is An Image License?

Simply put, it's a way to keep all of us happy.

For years my photographers and I have struggled to educate our customers about US and International copyright laws. There are a large number of photographic print buyers that believe a couple of dollars paid to buy the print gives them the absolute right to scan that image and use it however they want. They take their scan to the local Walmart to make copies. They put the image on their web site without giving a photographers credit, even claiming the copyrights and their own. And a few (you KNOW who you are) have even offered bootleg copies for sale to others. To paraphrase an old commercial, "Got Brass?"
