July 3, 2011 Highlights

Crystal, MI - Picture perfect weather for the annual Fourth of July two day event brought great car counts and huge crowds to Crystal Motor Speedway Saturday night. Saturday was sponsored by the Ionia Bowl and Sunday was sponsored by Andersen Contracting and Renovations.

The Sunday portion of the weekend saw 127 cars in the pits and another huge crowd. Smoker’s Club Street Stock feature was won by Will Stanley with Tim Buskirk advancing by winning the B Feature. JR Schmid and Doug Helsel took heat events.

Ryan Vanderveen took his first feature event of the season in the Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Models. Troy Vanderveen won the B Feature with heats falling to Carl Reis, Scott Baker, and Tim Lytle.

The Races On The Web.com Flinn Stocks had a repeat feature winner in Taylor Wiles with heat wins going to Taylor Daniels and Austin Bean. With school out, this division is becoming larger each weekend and is always an exciting event to watch.

It has been a while since Myron DeYoung has been in the winners circle but he completed the weekend sweep by grabbing Engine Pro IMCA Modified feature again Sunday night. B Mains were won by Josh Borton and Jerry Hunt while Mike Chanteau, Brody Bowser, and Deyoung posed
for heat win photos.

The Port City Pro Stocks feature saw another first win of the season driver score the big one as Jacob Headley showed his might after fighting his way to the top and holding off all comers for the win. Reb Marble and Blake Hollenbeck added heat wins to their portfolio.

The Engine Pro Pro Trucks feature was a 'bang up affair' with Chris Verhaar surviving the feature to grab the win after numerous accidents began to eliminate drivers. Heats fell to Dave Dancer and Carl Thayer.

Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway is a full show and is sponsored by Gratiot Heating & Cooling. Gates open for the pits at 4:30 and grand stand gates open at 5PM. Adults are $10 and kids 5-11 are $4. Pit passes are $25. Further information can be obtained by calling the
