Announcements and More

Baby, It Was COLD Out There!

The SOD Sprints were in town Saturday and they put on their normal fantastic show. As soon as I get results on that series, I'll post it. Benjamin Nott grabbed the win in the Flinn Stocks while Zach Olger took home the win in the KFC Late Models. Chad Wernette brought home the win in the Allstar Performance IMCA Mods and Andrew Fidler bested a tight field in the Engine Pro Pro Truck division. Finally, Will Stanley made his first run at CMS in a year or so and showed 'em he hadn't forgot how to win as he scored the Street Stock feature. Points, winner photos, and such are posted under each division now.

Next week at Crystal Motor Speedway is a regular night of all six divisions, sponsored by Michigan One Community Credit Union. Pit gates open at 4:30 and the main grandstand gates open at 5PM. Racing begins at 7:30. Adults are $12 and kids 5-11 are $5. Pit passes are $25. More information can be obtained by calling the track office at 989.235.5200. The 2015 SCHEDULE IS HERE

I am tentatively bringing the live stream to an end as of last night. Too many issues not of our making. We had $600 worth of cables cut by some nimrod and I can't afford to fix that this week. I'll do what I can but bad wires lead to bad video and loss of video signal.

There was a modification to the rules concerning transponders. While it was changed in the rules, I failed to post here it here. This rule was modified April 21st, 2015. It says: "18. Transponders must be mounted on the right side and the back of rear axle and in an orange transponder pouch. If your transponder falls off you may not be scored and you will be responsible for replacing the transponder.Any racer caught trying to modify or deliberately changing location of transponder will be disqualified."  Check with your tech inspector if you have questions.

June 25, 2011 Highlights

Written by Trevor Hollis.

Crystal, MI - Another perfect weather night graced the Crystal Motor Speedway for it’s Saturday night show presented by Praxair. With the sun shinning and 119 cars in the pits the racing was bound to be top notch and the men and women and their machines did not disappoint.

The first feature of the night was the Engine Pro Pro trucks. Second year driver Gavin Parks was the early class of the field leading about half of the 20 lap feature event. A couple of cautions early kept the field tight but Gavin held his own out front. Current points leader and multiple feature winner this season Carl Thayer was the cause of one of those cautions and was forced to the back of that pack with about 12 laps left to go, but that proved to be nothing more than a little inconvience for Thayer as he was able to make his way to the front in a hurry and take the feature win for his 5th this season. Rounding out the top five were Scott Neiman, Tim Wood, Tim Hansen and Chance Allen. Heat race wins went to Chance Allen and Richard Melton

Next up were the Kentucky Fried Chicken Late Models for their 30 lap feature event. A number of early cautions really shuffled up the starting order and eliminated a couple of the top contenders but eventually patience set in and the field was able to spread out a bit and click off a number of green flag laps. The 55W of Roger Wing was the show as the hall of famer had a lot of work to do to get up front. Wing found something that he liked on the low side and was able to start his march to the front. Clearly the fastest car on the track wing was able to pick up the win over Mark Anderson, Tom Duesen, Mike Nugent, and Justin Mcneil. Winning their heats were Kurt Messman and Scott Haney.

The Engine Pro IMCA modified feature was a battle of attrition with a number of people suffering from mechanical problems. Defending track champion AJ Ward was able to hold off a very strong field of cars and cut into the points lead that Josh Borton holds over the modified division. Rounding out the top five were Chad Mauer, Chad Wernette, Dan Minikey Jr, and Bob Hutson. Picking up heat race wins were Bob Hutson, Rodney King, and AJ Ward. Paul Grosnickle won the b main.

The Smokers Club Street Stocks rolled out for their feature event and Mike Vandermark Jr was able to roll into the Engine Pro Victory Lane yet again. With another win Mike was able to continue to show the way in the points and add another winners sticker to the roof of the very dominate Brian Lebaron owned number 42. Kyle Prochazka was able to wheel his car to a second place finish followed by Will Stanley, JR Schmid, And Dave Grega. Shane Spencer was victorious in heat one and Dave Grega won heat two.

The story of the racesontheweb.com Flinn stock heat was the wild ride by young Felicia Rohn. Rolling it 4 times in turn number 2 Felica was a-ok as she popped out of her battered car and gave a bug wave to the fans. Taylor Wiles was eventually the winner of the 15 lap feature event holding off a furious charge by Austin Bean, Alex Richards, Garrett Wiles, and Zach Rummer who rounded out the top five. Heats went to Charles Peterson and Kenny Playter.

Todd Bush took the checkered flag in the Port City Pro Stock feature. For the majority of the race it looked like the 1* machine of Gary Buskirk was the one to beat until the mechanical gremlins that have plagued him all season once again reared their ugly head. Buskirk broke while leading forcing many of the top 5 to take evasive action and allowing Bush, who was in the right place at the right time to sneak through and pick up the win. Chad Raby was able to hold on for second followed by Larry Kozlowski, Mike Hustead, and Vern Buskirk. Gary Buskirk and Blake Hollenbeck won their heats.

Next up on the schedule for the Crystal Motor Speedway is the 4th of July 2 day show. Saturday will welcome the Lane Automotive Michigan Traditional Sprints in a make-up of the rained out show from May. Saturday will also include fireworks presented by Anderson Contracting and Renovations. They will be right back in action the very next night with another full show featuring all 6 of the weekly divisions. Gates open at 4:30 both evenings, with hot laps at 6 and first race at 7:30pm. Adult admission will be $12 for the Saturday show and $10 for Sunday, children 5-11 $4.00 both days. Camping is free and available. Visit www.crystalmotorspeedway.com for more information. WELL SEE YOU AT THE TRACK!!!
